Connecting to a power source Connecting the AC adapter with the USB cable can be used as an AC cable, and you can charge the rechargeable battery with the AC cable. z Using an AC cable: Connect the AC adapter to the USB cable. Starting the Recording mode Recording the movie clip without sound Pausing while recording a movie clip (Successive Recording) You can record the movie clip without sound. This camera allows you to temporarily stop during unwanted scenes, while recording a movie clip. Using this function, you can record your favourite scenes into a movie clip without having to create multiple movie clips. Steps from 1-3 are the same as those for Movie clip mode. 4. Focus lock To focus on a subject not positioned in the centre of the picture, use the focus lock function. The recording mode function can be set up by using the camera buttons. Using the Focus Lock 1. Ensure the subject is in the centre of the autofocus frame. 2. Press the Shutter button halfway. When the green auto focus frame lights up, it means the camera is focused on the subject. Be careful not to press the Shutter button all the way down to avoid taking an unwanted picture. 3.
Shutter button Zoom W/T Lever Used for taking an image or recording voice in the Recording mode. When the menu window is not displayed, this lever is used to control the optical or digital zoom. This camera has a 10X optical zoom and a 5X digital zoom function. Using both will offer a total zoom ratio of 50X. z In Movie clip mode Pressing the Shutter button down fully starts the process for recording a movie clip.

Fn button: Frame rate Fn button: Metering This menu allows you to select an appropriate frame rate depending on the intended use for a recorded video. Using a faster shutter speed enables the movie clip to catch a decisive moment, but which will raise the ¿le size. If you cannot obtain suitable exposure conditions, you can change the metering method to take brighter pictures.
Fn button: Drive mode You can select continuous shot, and AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing). z High Single Icon Drive Mode Single Take one picture only. Continuous Images will be taken continuously until the Shutter button is released. The shooting capacity depends on the memory. High Speed Continuous shooting is available while pressing and holding the Shutter button (About 1.5 frames per second). The shooting speed may get slower depending on the shooting environment or the number of shots.
Fn button: ISO Fn button: White balance You can select the ISO sensitivity when taking pictures. The speed or speci¿c light-sensitivity of a camera is rated by ISO numbers. The white balance control allows you to adjust the colours to appear more natural. Auto Auto WB Icon ISO Mode Description Auto The camera’s sensitivity is automatically changed by variables such as lighting value or subject brightness.
Fn button: White balance Using the Custom White Balance White balance settings may vary slightly depending on the shooting environment. You can select the most appropriate white balance setting for a given shooting environment by setting up the custom white balance. 1. Select the Custom Set ( ) menu of the White Balance and place a sheet of white paper in front of the camera so that the LCD monitor shows only white. 2. MENU/OK button: Selects previous custom white balance.
Fn button: Face Detection If you use face detection options, your camera can detect a human face. When focusing on a human face, the brightness of the face is also adjusted. You can also capture natural facial expressions by using self portrait, smile shot or blink detection.
Fn button: Face Detection Self Portrait When taking pictures of yourself, the area of your face is automatically detected so that you can take self portraits more easily and quickly. 1. For self-¿lming, set the camera lens towards the face of the object. It automatically detects the face of the object, and emits a guiding sound. 2. Start ¿lming by pressing the Shutter button.
Fn button: Movie clip frame stabiliser E (Effect) button This function helps stabilize images captured during movie recording. You can select this menu only in the Movie clip mode. If the memory card is not inserted, this function will not operate. It is possible to add special effects to your images by using this button. Off [Off]: Movie clip frame stabilizer function is disabled. [On]: Minimises camera shake during movie recording.
E (Effect) button: Photo Style Selector E (Effect) button: Image editing You can add various effects to the image without an image editing software. Press the E button in an available mode. 1. Select the desired Photo style selector by pressing the Left/Right button and press the OK button. 2. Press the Shutter button to take an image. Quality ACB You can select the compression ratio appropriate for your application of the captured images. The higher the compression ratio, the lower the picture quality. This function is to adjust the contrast automatically when taking photos in an environment with big exposure difference i.e. backlight or contrast. This function adjusts the brightness automatically and allows the subject to be photographed clearly. - [Quality] Sub menus: [Super Fine], [Fine], [Normal].
OIS (Optical image Stabilization) Voice Memo This feature allows you to minimize camera shake while taking a picture. You can add your voice-over to a stored still image. Voice recording A voice can be recorded for as long as the available recording time (Max. 10 hour) allows. Press the Shutter button to record a voice. – Press the Shutter button once and voice is recorded for as long as the available recording time (max:10 hour) allows. The recording time will be displayed on the LCD monitor. Voice will still be recorded if the Shutter button is released. – If you wish to stop recording, press the Shutter button again. – File type: *.
Recording the movie clip without voice Starting play mode You can record the movie without voice. Turn the camera on and select Play mode by pressing the Play mode ( ) button. The camera can now play back the images stored in the memory. If the memory card is inserted in the camera, all the camera functions apply only to the memory card. If the memory card is not inserted in the camera, all the camera functions apply only to the internal memory. Select [Voice] menu in the Movie clip mode. (p.

Using the camera buttons to set the camera In Play mode, you can use the buttons on the camera to conveniently set up the Play mode functions. Thumbnail display If you have turned on the camera by pressing the POWER button, you can press the Play mode button once to switch to Play mode and press it again to switch to Recording mode.
Using the camera buttons to set the camera Image enlargement The maximum enlargement rate in proportion to the image size 1. E (Effect) button: Resize Change the resolution (size) of pictures taken. Select [Start image] to save an image to be the start-up image. 1. Press the Play mode button and press the E button. 2. Press the Left/Right button and select the [RESIZE] ( ) menu tab. 3. Select a desired sub menu by pressing the Up/Down button and press the OK button. – Only JPEG images can be resized. E (Effect) button: Rotating an image E (Effect) button: Colour You can rotate the stored images by various degrees. Once the playback of the rotated picture is ¿nished, it will switch back to the original state. It is possible to add colour effects to your images by using this button. E (Effect) button: Image editing Face Retouch When you recorded a person, you can retouch the subject’s face. 1. Select ( ) by pressing the Up/Down button and a bar for selecting the [Face Retouch] will be displayed. 2. Change the Face Retouch by pressing the Left/Right button. 3. Press the OK button and the image will be saved as a new ¿le name. Contrast control You can change the contrast of the image.
