Installation & Assembly

Installation Guide
1. Make sure before installing the new trap that the pieces of pipe will line up correctly.
(Laying out the pieces will help you get an idea of where things will go).
2. . First, install the new trap arm. Slide a nut onto the arm facing down toward the trap
area. After doing that, put another nut for the wall connection onto the pipe facing the
opposite direction. Use the intended slip joint washer tapered toward the back wall. Line
the trap arm to where the trap will be to check the required pipe length. (If it is too long
you will have to cut it to the correct size.) Some sites recommend allowing a portion of
the drain arm to slide into the drain pipe. They mention using a minimum of 1" of pipe
for this. More overlap is okay as long as it does not block off vent or drain pipe going
down.
3. Tighten the nut on the trap arm when everything is in place.
4. Slip a nut and washer on the bottom of the pop-up with the washer tapered down. It is
recommended on some sites to put a bit of pipe joint compound on the face of both sides
where it will seal. Put the p-trap straight up, and hand tightens all the nuts.
5. When everything is completed, then turn the sink on and test that there are no leaks. (If
you see leaks you can tighten the nut that is appropriate.
