Network Installation
This section describes requirements for installing the Xantrex XW SCP as
part of a Xantrex Xanbus network-managed power system. For the
system to function properly, requirements for network layout and
termination must be followed.
Network Components
A Xantrex Xanbus network consists of the following components:
Xantrex Xanbus-enabled devices—these include the Xantrex XW
SCP, the Xantrex XW Series Inverter/Charger, Xantrex XW Automatic
Generator Start (Xantrex XW AGS), and Xantrex XW Charge
Controller. The network can consist of up to eight Xantrex Xanbus-
enabled devices. A typical Xantrex XW Power System can include
three inverter/chargers, two charge controllers, one Xantrex XW AGS
and one Xantrex XW SCP.
Xantrex Xanbus power supply—the network requires a power supply
capable of providing 15 Vdc/200 mA to each device. The Xantrex
XW Series Inverter/Charger provides network power, but if no
inverter/charger is installed, an external power supply is required.
Contact Schneider Electric for more information.
Xantrex Xanbus cables—each Xantrex Xanbus-enabled device is
connected by a standard straight-through Ethernet cable—CAT 5e.
See Figure 2-1 on page 2–3. A 2.1 meter network cable is included
with the Xantrex XW SCP. If more cables or a different length are
required, these standard cables can be purchased from Schneider
Electric or any computer supply store.
CAUTION: Equipment damage
Do not use crossover cable for the Xantrex Xanbus network cable.
On crossover cable, the order of color-coded wires at each end of the
cable is different.
