TTY Mode
ATTY(teletypewriter,alsoknownasaTDDorTextTelephone)isatelecommunicationsdevice
thatallowspeoplewhoaredeaf,hardofhearing,orwhohavespeechorlanguagedisabilities,to
communicatebytelephone.
YourphoneiscompatiblewithselectTTYdevices.PleasecheckwiththemanufacturerofyourTTY
devicetoensurethatitsupportsdigitalwirelesstransmission.YourphoneandTTYdevicewill
connectusingaspecialcablethatplugsintoyourphone’sheadsetjack.Ifthiscablewasnot
providedwithyourTTYdevice,contactyourTTYdevicemanufacturertopurchasetheconnector
cable.

Touch > >Settings >Call.
2. TouchTTY modeandthentouchTTY Full,TTY HCO,orTTY VCOtoturnTTYmodeon.

Note:Whenenabled,TTYmodemayimpairtheaudioqualityofnon-TTYdevicesconnectedtotheheadset
jack.
Warning:9-1-1 Emergency Calling
ItisrecommendedthatTTYusersmakeemergencycallsbyothermeans,includingTelecommunications
RelayServices(TRS),analogcellular,andlandlinecommunications.WirelessTTYcallsto9-1-1maybe
corruptedwhenreceivedbypublicsafetyansweringpoints(PSAPs),renderingsomecommunications
unintelligible.TheproblemencounteredappearsrelatedtoTTYequipmentorsoftwareusedbyPSAPs.This
matterhasbeenbroughttotheattentionoftheFCC,andthewirelessindustryandthePSAPcommunityare
currentlyworkingtoresolvethis.

Hearingaidsletsyouadjustyourphone’ssettingstohelpyouhearmoreclearlyduringaphonecall.
