H Digital connection to a Dolby digital, DTS/MPEG
audio processor or MD recorder
You can record sound on a digital audio recorder by connecting to the digital
audio output socket using an optical digital cable.
When connecting a digital audio recorder to the digital audio output socket,
set the “
DIGITAL/MPEG” to “D-PCM/PCM” (see page 24).
BIT STREAM For 5.1 channel Dolby Digital/DTS surround processors, etc.
D-PCM/PCM For 2 channel digital input amplifiers, etc.
Note:
Some discs are copy protected and digital recording is not possible (including
DTS signals).
Troubleshooting chart
Many potential problems can be resolved by the owner without calling a service
technician.
If something is wrong with this product, check the following before calling your
authorised SHARP dealer or service centre.
H General
Symptom
The clock is not set to the
correct time.
When a button is pressed,
the unit does not respond.
No sound is heard.
Possible cause
Did a power failure occur?
Reset the clock. (Refer to page 16.)
Set this unit to the power stand-by mode
and then turn it back on.
If the unit still malfunctions, reset it.
(Refer to page 68.)
Is the volume level set to “0”?
Are the headphones connected?
Are the speaker wires disconnected?
Is the Karaoke mode set to “L-CH”, “R-
CH” or “V-CANCEL”?
H Remote control
Symptom
The remote control does not
operate.
Possible cause
Is the AC power lead of the unit plugged
in?
Is the battery polarity correct?
Are the batteries dead?
Is the distance or angle incorrect?
Does the remote control sensor receive
strong light?

An optical digital cable is not supplied.
Purchase an optional optical digital cable.
