3.1.3.1 MS SQL Server notes
If the MS SQL Server (2005 or 2008) is available on the machine where MK8000 is
installed or on the network, it can be used for the MK8000 functions as well. The name
of the SQL Server should be specified during software setup [➙ 26] or modified later
usin
g the SQL Server tab of the Engineering Tools [➙ 49].
If no SQL Server
(2005 or 2008) is available, then the Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Express SP3 is automatically installed before MK8000, as well as the related SQL
Backward Compatibility pack.
If SiPass is installed and integrated with MK8000, then the SQL Server installed by
SiPass can also be used for MK8000. Instead, note that, due to special access control
settings, the SiPass setup does not work properly with the SQL server installed by
MK8000.
SQL Server 2008 R2
Note that the Windows Administrators group of the domain must be configured as Sys-
Admin of SQL Server. It is necessary that the internal user [➙ 52] is also a Sys-Admin
for SQL Server 200
8 R2. This is the case if the Windows domain Administrators are
also Sys-Admin in SQL Server 2008 R2.
3.1.3.2 Internet Information Services (IIS) notes
Internet Information Services (IIS) is always available but may not be installed in
Windows. It is a necessary component for the following applications, and may require
some configuration steps.
1. MM8000/MK8000 with NK8000 network: (optional) NK8000 Web Monitoring
2. MM8000 Web Clients
For a general introduction and more information about IIS, see http://www.iis.net/
Important: Before starting the IIS installation and confi
guration, contact your network
manager and make sure to have the proper rights to perform such tasks, which require
appropriate authorizations based on the system security policy.
3.1.3.3 Windows firewall notes
Windows includes firewall software that should be disabled or re-configured for
MK8000 software to work properly in two specific network configurations:
Distributed architectures with Client and/or FEP stations.
Architectures including NK8000 network devices.
In general, solutions including network communications (e.g.: Video Network, OPC
services, etc.) or network file access (e.g.: Intranet HTML page in treatment).
Other configurations (fully local) do not require any change to the Windows firewall
setting.
If the PC does not have access to the Internet or is somehow protected externally, the
Windows firewall can be disabled with the following commands:
1. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
