3.1.4.2 Data Backup and Disaster Recovery
As part of the system security strategy, you need to define an effective data backup
and recovery policy. This includes data and access passwords.
Configuration backups
MK8000 configuration backups should be performed after every project modification,
and the related media stored in a safe place and possibly offsite. The backup list
includes:
Composer Backup (see
Composer Technical Manual
– A6V10062401)
Any special customisations defined using technical utilities [➙ 48], engineering
tools, batch commands, and registry scripts
Disk image backup software can also be considered for a complete system backup.
External systems, e.g. SiPass, SQL Server, etc. should also be taken into account.
Based on the above listed data and information, a data recovery scheme should be put
in place.
Passwords
Keep a copy of the master passwords. Use a safe repository or a specialised software
application. The list includes:
Window administration password(s)
The SQL Server administration password
