3.3 Installation checklist
The following two checklists tell you what you need for MK8000 installation, and steps
you go through to install it.
Items needed for installation
Administrator account name and password is required.
In case of a distributed system, all PCs should be in the network and configured
into the same domain.
It must be clear to you what type of security policy [➙ 22] you wish to apply.
Network names of all the PCs to install must be known.
The hardware key (dongle) is needed, along with the license PAK associated to it.
Installation CD: MK8000 is distributed on a CD that includes all the necessary
software and an installation guide.
If SiPass is required on the same server, SiPass server software must be installed
before MK8000.
SQL server is required locally or on the network. If an external SQL server is used,
make sure to have the server name and the authentication password. If SiPass is
also used, then the SQL Server is provided by SiPass.
WARNING
Note: If you are migrating from an existing system to a newer version, you should
refer to the
Release Notes
prior to performing the installation procedure.
Installation workflow
The following steps outline what you need to do to install MK8000:
1. Log on as Administrator.
2. Disable or reconfigure the Windows firewall [➙ 14].
3.
Uninstall any existing versions of MK8000.
4. Check the software requirements [➙ 13], with special attention to SQL Server,
Video and Si
Pass Access Control applications.
5. Install the software on the Stand-alone station.
6. Connect and activate the hardware key [➙ 42].
7.
Install the software on the FEP.
8. Test the connections of the OPC server.
Expert users may simply follow the checklist above and possibly refer to the detailed
sections indicated for each item. Instead, new users are recommended to read
through the sections that follow.
