DMS8000 configuration process overview
The configuration checklist is a general guide to the larger configuration process. The
order in which you perform the tasks in the checklist may vary depending on your
personal preference. This is not an absolute guide, but rather lends context to the
tasks discussed in this manual.
Note: A similar configuration list is provided in the Network, Fire, and Intrusion
Connectivity configuration guides. While the two lists are similar, they are not identical,
as each product has specific characteristics that impact this process. The list in the
Connectivity configuration guides serves as an overview of DMS8000 product
configuration in general, while the list provided below is a list of the actual steps in the
MK8000 configuration process. If the two lists vary, defer to the list below.

Items needed for configuration
Administrator logon id and password
Networked OPC Server (Stand-alone station) and FEPs with software installed
Composer installed on the server machine
Station names and IP addresses of OPC Server (Stand-alone station) and FEP
PCs
Relevant DMS8000 Connectivity configuration guides
Configuration workflow
The following steps outline what you need to do to configure MK8000. Items shown in
bold are covered in this guide. Items shown in regular are not covered in this guide.
Set up the Composer project.

Create a new project.
Define the general structure of the project tree, taking into account the goal of
presenting a structure to the final users that is clear and familiar to them.
Define the MK8000 system architecture.
