1.2 Generic subsystems via OPC
MM8000 systems can integrate safety and security control units by applying the
OPC connectivity functions. A generic type of subsystem - including safety, secu-
rity, and general-purpose objects - is available in the Composer environment, and
can be connected to the OPC server via a specialised MM8000 driver (NS8019).
The configuration of generic subsystems is presented in section 2 on page 8.
1.3 SIMATIC S7 via OPC
The SIMATIC S7 PLC units can be integrated in the MM8000 systems applying the
OPC connectivity functions. A specific S7 type of subsystem is available in the
Composer and a set of safety, security, and general-purpose objects can be used
to map the OPC items information into MM8000. The MM8000 OPC driver
(NS8019) allows connecting to the S7 OPC server.
