2.3 Changes to installation / configuration procedures
2.3.1 Installation
Windows 2000 version
Window 2000 requires service pack 4 (SP4). Also, security patches provided by
Microsoft (e.g. KB823980) are recommended.

Hardware key (dongle) driver
MP2.31 includes new drivers for the Sentinel keys. However, there are a few im-
portant issues that you need to be aware of:
1. If a previous Sentinel driver is installed, typically because of an older MM8000
installation, then it is recommended to uninstall it using the standard Windows
procedure (Start  Settings  Control Panel  Add/remove Programs). Note
that removing the previous MM8000 does not imply removing the Sentinel driver.
2. During MP2.31 installation, you will be requested to remove the hardware key.
Failing to do that would cause driver installation troubles. In case of such difficul-
ties, please proceed as follows:
 Remove the faulty MM8000 installation.
 Shut Windows down.
 Uninstall the key.
 Boot the PC.
 Delete the old MM8000 folder.
 Run again the setup procedure.
 Shut Windows down again.
 Install the key on the parallel or USB port.
 Reboot the PC.
3. In case the PAK manager still cannot recognise the HW key, you can install the
sentinel driver manually. Just launch the set-up located in:
MM8000  PAK Manager  Sentinel Drivers  SSD5411-32bit
and follow the instructions; when prompted, select the default installation.
MM8000 license: demo mode and service mode
