Introduction Intelligent Valves can be integrated into the Desigo System via BACnet capable PX Primary Controllers. The integration into the PX primary controller is facilitated with a prepared solution (compound), specific to Intelligent Valves. Once integrated into the PX Primary Controller, integration into Desigo CC is easily possible with Desigo CC’s proven Desigo PX System Integration and pre-engineered graphics in the Desigo CC Graphics Library.
Engineering and commissioning Overview of workflows This section introduces the reader to the engineering and commissioning workflows of the Intelligent Valves within the described Desigo environment. In general, one can distinguish between two basic workflows. Intelligent Valve Integration Workflow 1: hydronic balancing with ABT Site In this workflow, engineering, commissioning and balancing of the Intelligent Valves are all performed with ABT Site.
Intelligent Valve Integration Workflow This section provides step-by-step instructions for both workflow 1 and workflow 2. Create project in XWP # Description Tool 1.1 Create project. Project Manager 1.2 Switch to Network Configurator.
# Description 1.3 Create network. Network Configurator 1.4 Switch to ABT Site.
Engineer Intelligent Valve in ABT Site # Description 2.1 Define building hierarchy. Tab Building This building hierarchy is only relevant for ABT Site and will not be visible in the management station later. 2.2 Define network ranges for your building hierarchy. Building 2.3 Select Add application template.
# Description 2.4 Import desired application templates by executing the provided installer file. The installation instructions will guide you through the process. Tab Configuration The installation process will close ABT Site. Re-open the tool once the installation is completed.
# Description Tab 2.5 Add desired application templates to your project. Configuration Choose the appropriate application template, based on: 2.6 Control function Type of setpoint source - Dynamic control valve - Analog signal - Flow temperature controller - BACnet IP - Heating circuit controller Adapt I/O configuration of application templates if required.
# Description 2.7 Adapt default values of application templates if required. 2.8 Once the application templates are defined, select Add device…. Tab Configuration Building Right-click the building element where the devices are located. 2.9 Select the desired application template for your devices.

# Description Tool 3.4 Check complete network, including any previously defined Intelligent Valve. Network Configurator 3.5 Switch to Point Configurator. Network Configurator 3.6 Define building hierarchy. Point Configurator This is the building hierarchy that will be imported into Desigo CC later.
# Description 3.7 Configure automation station solution, making use of Intelligent Valve compound with prepared alarming and trending. Tool Point Configurator Check compound reference manual [1] for further information. Please note that the compound has been designed for the use of Intelligent Valve as a dynamic control valve. For other control functions, such as flow temperature control, the compound must be adapted accordingly. 3.8 Generate CFC data.
# Description Tool 3.9 Perform BACnet referencing to Intelligent Valve via prepared compound. CFC Check compound reference manual [1] for further information. Only for Workflow 2 / Hydronic balancing with ABT Go: Balance Intelligent Valve with ABT Go The external company performs the balancing with ABT Go. The steps for balancing with ABT Go are explained in [6].
Commission Intelligent Valve with ABT Site NOTICE At this point, make sure your devices are installed properly. Check the mounting instructions [7] for further information. # Description 4.1 Set up network connection and start network discovery. Tab Startup Alternatively, set up a direct connection to the device via USB. A direct connection via Ethernet is not possible. 4.2 Identify correct devices from list. There are 3 possibilities to identify correct devices in the network: Startup 4.2.

# Description 4.3 Assign correct devices individually. ● 4.4 Tab Startup Multiple devices can be assigned in parallel. Download application configuration. Startup Up to 10 devices can be downloaded at the same time. 4.5 Perform upload.
Commission PX Primary Controller with XWP The commissioning workflow of the primary automation station is the same as with any PX Primary Controller. For further information, please consult the XWP Online Help [2]. Engineer and commission Desigo CC # Description 6.1 Perform proven PX System Integration [4]. There are 2 options: 6.1.1 Offline Export management station data from XWP and perform import in Desigo CC.
# Description 6.1.2 Online Engineering Start network discovery in Desigo CC and import PX Primary Controller.
# Description Mode 6.2 Engineer graphics with pre-engineered device graphics from Desigo CC Library. [5] Engineering (Desigo CC) Graphics are available in 2D, 2D+, and 3D. 2D 6.3 Create Trend View definitions.
Maintenance Overview of workflow This section gives an overview of the steps required to update firmware and application of the Intelligent Valve devices within the described Desigo environment. This workflow is particularly suited to new projects, in which the Intelligent Valve devices have not yet been engineered and commissioned.
Software Update Workflow: New Project This section provides step-by-step instructions on how to update firmware and application in a new project in ABT Site. Import new templates # Description 1 Import desired new application templates by executing the provided installer file. The installation instructions will guide you through the process. Tab Configuration The installation process will close ABT Site. Re-open the tool once the installation is completed.
Update firmware # Description 3.1 Set up network connection and start network discovery. Startup 3.2 Select correct devices from list and assign individually.
# Description 3.3 Perform firmware updates one by one. Tab Startup Firmware on the device and new application templates in ABT Site must be of the same version set.
