Fish Tagging
When you use the Fish Tagging mode, information about the
current geographical position received from the ship’s satellite
navigation system (GPS) are coded and transmitted on the sonar
signal. The fishery research communities are placing tiny
electronic tags with a built-in GPS receiver on fish. When you
start this mode, fish with implanted tags within a radius of 5 km
from the ship will receive and store the information about the
geographical position, as well as depth and temperature. When
the fish is caught, the migratory route of the fish through a
whole year can be reconstructed.
Note that when the Fish Tagging mode is activated, the sonar is
used only for this purpose. Thus, no echoes will be shown on
the display.
