The carburetor is set at the factory to
provide an optimum fuel-air mixture
under all operating conditions.
Adjusting idle speed
Check air filter and fit a new one if
necessary.
Check spark arresting screen and
clean or replace as necessary.
Carefully screw down the idle speed
screw (LD) counterclockwise (left-hand
thread) until it is firmly seated.
Then back off the screw two full turns
clockwise (standard setting LD = 2)
Start and warm up the engine.
Use idle speed screw (LD) to adjust
idle speed correctly:
chain must not rotate
Engine idle speed is too low:
Turn the idle speed screw (LD)
clockwise until chain begins to run -
then back off the screw half a turn.
Chain runs when engine is idling:
Turn the idle speed screw (LD)
counterclockwise until chain stops
running - then turn the screw about
another half turn in the same
direction.
If the engine is low on power, check the
spark arresting screen inside the muffler.
Take out the screws (1) and remove the
shroud (2).
Remove the spark arresting screen (3)
from the muffler (4).
Clean spark arresting screen if
necessary.
If screen is damaged or coked up,
fit a new one.
Refit the spark arresting screen,
place the shroud in position and
secure with the screws.
