23 Troubleshooting Guide
Always remove the battery before carrying out any inspection, cleaning or maintenance.
Condition LEDs on
Garden Shear
Possible Cause Remedy
Garden shears do
not start when
switched on.
No electrical contact
between garden
shears and battery.
Remove the battery, @ 14.2.
Visually check the electrical contacts in the battery
compartment and on the battery.
Reinsert the battery, @ 14.1.
1 LED flashes
green.
Battery has low
charge.
Charge the battery, @ 11.
1 LED glows
red.
Battery too hot / too
cold.
Allow the battery to warm up or cool down gradually at
ambient temperatures of about 50 °F to 68 °F (10 °C to
20 °C).
4 LEDs flash
red.
Malfunction in
battery.
Remove the battery and reinsert it, @ 14.
Switch on the garden shears, @ 15.1.
If the LEDs continue to flash, do not attempt to use.
The battery has a malfunction and must be replaced.
3 LEDs glow
red.
Garden shears too
hot.
Allow the garden shears to cool down.
3 LEDs flash
red.
Malfunction in
garden shears.
Remove the battery and reinsert it, @ 14
Switch on the garden shears, @ 15.1.
If the LEDs still flash, do not attempt to use.
The garden shears has a malfunction and must be checked
by a servicing dealer.
Cutting blades are
not clean and
lubricated.
Clean the cutting blades, @ 21.2.
If the LEDs still flash, do not attempt to use.
The hedge trimmer has a malfunction and must be checked
by a servicing dealer.
Garden shears cut
out during operation.
1 LED glows
red.
Battery too hot / too

Remove the battery, @ 13.2.
Allow the garden shears and battery to warm up / cool down
