About managed and unmanaged computers

You install client computers as managed or unmanaged computers.

Client computer types

DescriptionType

Managed client computers use Symantec Protection Center.

Managed client computers are centrally managed; you

administer the computers from the console. Managed client

computers connect to your network. You use the console to

update the client software, security policies, and virus

definitions on the managed client computers.

In most cases, you install client computers as managed

computers.

You can install managed client computers as follows:

■ During initial product installation

■ From the console after installation
