Logging on to a remote console
Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition gives you the flexibility to
manage your client computers remotely. Using a remote computer that runs the
console software, you can access Symantec Protection Center while you are away
from the office.
The requirements for remote management are as follows:
■ You must know the IP address or the host name of the computer that runs
Symantec Protection Center. The IP address and the host name are available
on the console Admin page.
Click Help for information about finding the server host name and IP address.
See “Finding the server host name and IP address” on page 156.
■ The remote computer must run the console software. The console software is
automatically installed during logon.
■ The remote computer requires Java Runtime Environment. Java Runtime
Environment automatically installs if the remote computer does not run the
correct version. You might have to adjust your Internet Explorer settings for
ActiveX and Java to permit installation.
■ The remote computer must have Active X and scripting enabled.
■ You must have an administrator account.
