approach . Th is basic level of service is typical of som e local service cen ters, self-m ain tain ed custom ers, an d som e distributors.

Safet y Informat ion
In 1991 th e In stitute of Electrical an d Electron ics Engin eers (IEEE), an d in 1992 th e Am erican Nation al Stan dards In stitute
(ANSI), updated th e 1982 ANSI Stan dard for safety levels with respect to h um an exposure to RF en ergy. Over 120 scien tists,
en gin eers, an d ph ysician s from un iversities, govern m en t h ealth agen cies, an d in dustry, after reviewin g th e available body of
research , developed th is updated Stan dard. In March , 1993, th e Federal Com m un ication s Com m ission (FCC) proposed th e
adoption of th is updated Stan dard.
Motorola subscribes to th e sam e safety stan dard for th e use of its products. Proper operation of th is radio will result in user
exposure substan tially below FCC recom m en ded lim its:

sign s caution in g again st radio tran sm ission s. If radio tran sm ission is proh ibited, you m ust n ot tran sm it un til out of th e
area. Furth erm ore, you m ust turn off your radio to preven t an y acciden tal tran sm ission .

An air bag in at es wit h great force. DO NOT place objects, including communicat ion equipment , in t he area over
t he air bag or in t he air bag deployment area. If t he communicat ion equipm ent is improperly inst alled and t he air
bag in at es, t his could cause serious injury.
In stallation of veh icle com m un ication equipm en t sh ould be perform ed by a profession al in staller/tech n ician qualied in
th e requirem en ts for such in stallation s. An air bags size, sh ape an d deploym en t area can vary by veh icle m ake, m odel an d
fron t com partm en t con guration (for exam ple, ben ch seat vs. bucket seats).
