Installing the
Universal
Connector Cover
1. Lookin g at th e an ten n a side of th e radio,
in sert th e top (flat) h ooked en d of th e cover
in to th e slot on th e top of th e radio, above
th e universal con n ector. Press down ward on
th e cover’s top to seat it in th e slot.
2. Wh ile h oldin g th e cover seated in th e top
slot, in sert th e cover’s bottom (roun ded)
h ooked en d in to th e slot below th e un iversal
con n ector. Press firm ly in ward on th e cover’s
bottom un til it sn aps in place.

1. Lookin g at th e an ten n a side of th e radio,
in sert a flat-bladed screwdriver in to th e area
between th e lower en d of th e universal
con n ector cover an d th e slot below th e
un iversal con n ector.
2. Pry upward on th e cover’s lower en d un til it
disen gages from th e radio.

Partial Exploded View Parts List. Num bers in paren th eses ( ) refer to
item n um bers in Figure 8 an d Table 12.
• Th e battery (7) sh ould be rem oved from th e radio before in stallin g
or rem ovin g th e frequen cy kn ob (1).
Removing the
Frequency Knob
1. Hold th e radio in on e h an d so th at th e top of th e radio faces upward, an d
th e fron t of th e radio faces you.
2. With th e oth er h an d, grasp th e frequen cy kn ob (1) an d pull it upward,
wh ile push in g it toward th e back of th e radio, until it is free from th e
frequen cy in sert (3).
3. Wh ile pressin g th e in sert’s (3) two sn ap tabs away from th e frequen cy
con trol sh aft so th at th e in sert disen gages from th e sh aft, use n eedle-n osed
pliers to lift th e in sert up an d off of th e frequen cy con trol sh aft.
4. Rem ove th e secure lever (4) an d th e ligh tpipe (5).
Installing the
Frequency Knob
1. Hold th e radio so th at th e top of th e radio faces upward, an d th e fron t of
th e radio faces you.
When the universal connector is not in use, keep it covered
with the universal connector cover.
