10 Assembly
WARNING
Incorrect or incomplete assembly can result in fatal or serious personal injury.
Follow instructions.
Fully assemble before use.
10.1 Fitting the bar and chain
1. Put on protective gloves.
2. Loosen the chain tensioning knob (9). See Fig. 3.
3. Lift off the cover. See Fig. 4.
4. Put the chain round the bar. Check the direction of rotation. See Fig. 5.
5. Place the bar with the slot over the guide. See Fig. 6.
6. Fit the cover.
7. Tighten the chain tensioning knob a little. See Fig. 7.
Next: Tension the chain.
10.2 Tensioning the chain
A new chain must be tensioned after no more than 5 cuts. Once the chain has been run in, it does not need to be
tensioned so often.
1. Put on protective gloves.
2. Loosen the chain tensioning knob (9). See Fig. 3.
3. Lift the tip of the bar a little.
4. Tighten the chain tensioning knob. See Fig. 7. NOTICE! Do not over-tighten the knob to prevent excessive
wearing of the chain and bar.
Æ The chain is correctly tensioned if it rests against the underside of the bar and if it can be easily pulled along by
hand. See Fig. 8.
10.3 Filling with oil
Important:
Only use chain and bar lubricant for chain saws. Consult a professional in case of doubts.
1. Place the chain saw on level surface.
2. Wipe clean the oil ller cap.
3. Unscrew the ller cap. See Fig. 10.
4. Fill up with chain oil. Make sure no dirt gets into the oil tank when lling.
5. Screw on the ller cap.
6. Wipe up any spilled oil.
