Technical Update
Since the Top Flite Giant P-51 ARF was released, new gas engines have become available.
The DLE55 Rear Exhaust (DLEG0455) with the stock mufer, the DLE61 Side Exhaust
(DLEG0061) with the J’TEC JTCDL61WPTF Wraparound Pitts mufer (JTCG2173) and the O.S.
GT60 (OSMG1561) with the J’TEC JTCOSGT60WPTF Wraparound Pitts mufer and 2" [51mm]
Standoffs (OSMG8962) work well. Included are the bolt patterns for the gas engines along
with the bolt pattern for the Rimre 65cc electric motor.
1. Cutout the bolt pattern for the engine to be installed
and tape it to the front of the rewall aligning the
embossed lines on the rewall with the lines on the
bolt pattern. The lower two blind nuts may need to be
removed and a short piece of 5/16" [8mm] wooden
dowel glued in the holes.
2. The DLE55 and DLE61 will require plywood spacers
3/4" – 1" [19mm – 25.4mm] thick between the aluminum
standoffs and the rewall. The O.S. GT60 will require
plywood spacers 1/2" – 3/4" [12.7mm – 19mm] thick.
Coat the plywood spacers with epoxy or a fuel proof
paint before installing.
3. Drill a 13/64" [5mm] hole through the rewall and
plywood spacers at each of the appropriate
locations marked with an “X” or “
+”.
4. The bolts included with the DLE engines are too short to pass through the rewall and
spacers. 10-32x 2" [50mm] Socket head cap screws, #10 lock washers and #10 fender
washers will be required to mount the DLE engine. The bolts included with the O.S. 2" [50mm]
standoffs are also too short. 5x40mm Socket head cap screws are required.
