Step 1 Preparing the Machine No Parts Required Procedure Figure 1 1. Position the machine on a level surface. Set the parking brake, turn the ignition off, and remove the key. 1. Prop rod 4. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery. 5. Remove the bracket securing the battery to the battery base. Lift the battery out of the battery base. If you leave the key in the ignition switch, someone could accidently start the engine and seriously injure you or other bystanders.

Secure the lift cylinder support to the rear frame with 2 carriage bolts (3/8 x 3/4 inch) and 2 ﬂange nuts (3/8 inch).

Step 5. Install the battery and connect the cables. 3 6. Press the switch upward to extend the actuator rod until it is aligned with the mounting holes in the upper lift bracket. Secure the rod to the bracket with the clevis pin and cotter pin. Installing the Switch 7. Remove the screws and clip securing the prop rod to the frame rail (Figure 8). Operation Important: When a ratcheting noise is heard, the box lift is completely extended or retracted. Do not continue pressing the switch. Raising the Bed Driving the vehicle with the cargo box raised may cause the vehicle to tip or roll easier.
