Tension
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Aftereachbatterydraincycle
Ensurethatthechainisproperlytensioned.Aloose
chainwillshortenthelifeofthedrivesprocketandthe
guidebarandmaybreakthechain.Anovertightened
chainwilloverheattheguidebarandchain,causing
rapidwearandpossiblemotorburnout.Also,check
thechaintensionafterafewcuts.Anewchainusually
stretchesandrequiresadjustmentafteritsrstuse.
Thechaintensioniscorrectwhenyouareabletouse
aglovedhandtopullthechainsmoothlyaroundthe
guidebar.Thechainshouldremainincontactwith
thebottomedgeoftheguidebar.
DANGER
Contactwiththechainsawteethcancause
seriouspersonalinjury.
Removethebatterypackbeforeadjusting
ormaintainingthechainsaw.
Alwaysweargloveswhenadjustingor
maintainingthechainsaw.
1.Placethechainsawonalevelsurfaceand
removethebatterypack;refertoRemovingthe
BatteryPack(page15).
2.Unfoldthewing-nuttabandloosen,butdonot
removethewingnutonthecover(Figure29).
3.Holdupthetipoftheguidebar(Figure28).

Adjustthechainuntilthechaintouchesthe
bottomedgeoftheguidebar,thentightenthe
knobanadditional1/8to1/4turn.
5.Tightenthewingnutuntilitissnugandfoldthe
wing-nuttab(Figure29).
6.Checkthechaintension;ifthechainisloose,
repeatthisprocedure.
