AdjustingtheChain
Tension
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Aftereachbatterydraincycle
Ensurethatthechainisproperlytensioned.Aloose
chainwillshortenthelifeofthedrivesprocketandthe
guidebarandmaybreakthechain.Anovertightened
chainwilloverheattheguidebarandchain,causing
rapidwearandpossiblemotorburnout.Also,check
thechaintensionafterafewcuts.Anewchainusually
stretchesandrequiresadjustmentafteritsrstuse.
Thechaintensioniscorrectwhenyouareabletouse
aglovedhandtopullthechainsmoothlyaroundthe
guidebar.Thechainshouldremainincontactwith
thebottomedgeoftheguidebar.

Contactwiththechainsawteethcancause
seriousinjury.
Removethebatterypackbeforeadjusting
ormaintainingthechainsaw.
Alwaysweargloveswhenadjustingor
maintainingthechainsaw.

removethebatterypack;refertoRemovingthe

2.Loosen,butdonotremovethewingnutonthe
cover(Figure27).
