Avoiding hardware conflicts
Hardware devices use certain address settings and configuration values
to uniquely identify them in the computer. To eliminate potential hardware
conflicts when installing a new device, carefully read the installation
instructions that comes with the device.
Installing a new IDE device
The Equium 8100M can support up to four IDE devices.
There are three expansion bays on the front of the computer where
devices that require external access can be mounted (1, 2 and 3). Your
computer may have a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive in
the upper bay. There are two Internal expansion bays inside your
computer’s case for devices that do not require external access, such as
additional hard disk drives.
