Manual Lighting Procedure

MANUAL LIGHTING
PROCEDURE
In the unlikely event that your hot rod should ever fail,
your Traeger grill can also be manually relit. Remove the
porcelain grill (s), angled drip pan, and U-shaped firepot
cover. Pour approximately 1/2 cup of TRAEGER BBQ
PELLETS into the firepot. Overfilling the firepot with
pellets will over heat the unit and/or cause incomplete
combustion. When placing the pellets into the firepot
make sure you get them in the firepot and not under
the baffle pan. Squirt approximately 2 tablespoons of
alcohol gel into the firepot on top of the pellets. Use a
long fireplace match to light the alcohol gel. DO NOT
TURN THE “ON” SWITCH ON YET! Wait approximately four
minutes before turing the power switch “ON”. This will
allow the pellets to combust and begin burning
properly.
WARNING!
NEVER ATTEMPT TO SQUIRT ALCOHOL GEL INTO A
FIRE THAT IS ALREADY BURNING OR INTO A HOT
FIREPOT. THE ALCOHOL GEL BOTTLE COULD
EXPLODE AND YOU COULD BE SERIOUSLY BURNED.
IF YOU NEED TO “RE-LIGHT”, TURN YOUR GRILL OFF.
WAIT UNTIL THE FIREPOT COOLS OFF COMPLETELY.
MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO BURNING PELLETS IN THE
BOTTOM OF THE FIREPOT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RE-
LIGHT THE GRILL.
