SECTION 5: Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, Carbon dioxide, Dry chemical, Alcohol foam
Unsuitable extinguishing media: Do not use water jet.
Specific hazards arising from the chemical: Hazardous combustion products may include
carbon monoxide and other toxic gases/vapors.
Special protective equipment and precautions for fire-fighters: Self-contained breathing
apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire. Fight fire from a protected
location. Water may be ineffective in fighting the fire. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed
container cool.
SECTION 6: Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear
appropriate personal protective equipment (see Section 8). Do not breathe fumes or vapor.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up: Eliminate sources of ignition.
Stop source of leak if safe. Prevent entry into waterways and sewer systems. Absorb in
vermiculite, dry sand or earth. Sweep up and place in a clearly labeled container for chemical
waste.
SECTION 7: Handling and Storage
Precautions for safe handling: Avoid breathing mist or vapors. Avoid contact with eyes.
Use only with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibles: Keep container tightly closed
and in a well-ventilated place. Store away from heat and light.
