PROBLEM:
The computer or software will not
recognize the modem.
Diagnosis:
If you are using an external modem, the
modem might not be turned on.
Possible Solution:
Make sure the modem is turned on. The
power switch is on top of external modems.
The CS light on the front panel should be lit.
(An internal modem should turn on
automatically when the computer is turned
on.)
Diagnosis:
You may not be entering modem commands
in the proper manner.
Possible Solution:
Type in all upper case (AT) or lower case
(at).
Diagnosis:
If you are using an external modem, the
COM port may not be enabled.
Possible Solution:
Refer to your computer’s manual for
information concerning enabling COM ports
(usually involves altering the bios settings,
motherboard jumpers, and the operating
system).
