12. Measuring the wind speed and air ow rate
 Watchoutforlooseoryingpartsinstrongwinds.Thesecouldcauseaninjury.
Note the wind direction indicator in the anemometer probe!
The wind direction is indicated by an arrow in the anemometer housing. The wind direction must be observed in order
to avoid incorrect measurements.

Make sure that the impeller in the sensor can move freely.
Follow the steps below to take a measurement:
1. Open the side cover and connect the plug on the anemometer probe (17) to the "WIND" socket (see section c)
"Connecting the sensors" in chapter 8).
2. Press the on/off button (1) to switch on the meter.
3. To switch to wind speed measurement mode ("VEL"), press the button (5) until the "VEL" symbol appears in
display A on the LCD screen (7)
4. Point the anemometer probe into the wind, ensuring that it does not tilt to one side. The arrow marking in the impel-
ler casing must be pointing in the direction of the wind. The measured wind speed will be shown in the selected
unit (e.g. "m/s") on display A on the LCD screen (7).
5. Press the button (13) to change the display unit. Each press changes the unit. You can choose from knots,
mph, ft/min, m/s and km/h.

7. DisplayBwillshoweitherthemeasuredarea(indicatedbythe"AREA"symbolontheLCDdisplay),orthe"FLOW"
symbolwillbedisplayedtogetherwiththemeasuredairowrate.
8. Press the button(3)toswitchbetweentheareaandairowratemeasurements.Eachpressswitchesbetween
thetwomeasuredvaluesondisplayB.The"AREA"and"FLOW"symbolswillappearalternately.
9. Toselectanotherareafromthepredenedareasizes,pressthe button (2) to access SETUP mode.
10. Press the (13) or (14) button to select the size of the measured area from memory slots S-1 to S-6.
11. Conrmyourselectionwiththe button(15).Forinstructionsonhowtosetthepredenedareasizes,seesec-
tion "b) Changing the unit settings / Setting the size of the measured area (pre-selection)" in chapter 9 ("Setting
variable").
12. Afteryouhavenishedtakingmeasurements,presstheon/offbutton (1)toswitchoffthemeter.Removethe
anemometer probe and close the side cover.
