h Thinning the material
Thinning the spray material results in faster spraying, a better nish and less material usage.
Thin chalk, milk, latex and other thicker decorative paints with water
Oil-based materials need to be thinned with mineral spirits (use about half as much as water).
Transparent/semi-transparent stains, clear topcoats and lacquers do not typically require thinning.
Do not thin with materials that have a ashpoint below 100°F (38°C).
The material ashpoint should be shown on the material container.
Note: For a video showing how to set up the Home
Décor Sprayer, visit www.homedecorsprayer.com.
Some paint may require thinning. A 10%
dilution is a typicaly starting point:
1. Unscrew the container from the spray
gun.
Fill container to the 450 ml line with
spray material.
Note: Never thin beyond the paint
manufacturer’s recommendation.
2. Add water to the 500 ml line. Stir until
thoroughly mixed.
Note: For darker colors, adding water
to the 550 ml line may be necessary.
If using oil based materials, use mineral
spirits to thin (use about half as much
as water).
3. Align the suction tube -
Spraying horizontal or downwards:
the angled end of the suction tube
should be pointing toward the
front of the gun.
Spraying horizontal or upwards:
the angled end of the suction tube
should be pointing toward the rear
of the gun.
4. Screw the container back onto the
spray gun and attach the hose to the
gun and base.
