Recoil Starter
1. Withenginerunning,pullstarter ropewitha rapid,
continuousfull arm strokethreeor fourtimes.Pulling
the starterropewill producea loudclatteringsound,
whichis notharmfulto engine.
2. Movethrottlecontrolto STOPposition.
3. Removethe ignitionkey(Do notturn key)to prevent
unauthorizeduseof equipment.

4. Wipeall snowandmoisturefromtheareaaroundthe
engineas wellas the areain andaroundthe drive
controlandaugercontrol.Also,engageand release
bothcontrolsseveraltimes.
To Engage Drive
Withtheenginerunningneartop speed,move
shift leverto oneof sixFORWARDpositionsor two
REVERSEpositions.Selecta speedappropriatefor
the snowconditionsthatexist.
2. Squeezedrivecontrolagainstthe righthandleand
the snowthrowerwill move.Releaseit andthe drive
motionwill stop.
3. Toturnthe unitleftor right,squeezethe respective
wheelsteeringcontrol.SeeFigure11.
To Engage Augers
1. Toengageaugersand startsnowthrowing,squeeze
the lefthandaugercontrolagainstthe left handle.
Releaseto stopaugers.
2. Whiletheaugercontrolis engaged,squeezethe drive
controlto move,releaseto stop. Donotshiftspeeds
whilethe driveis engaged.
NOTE:Thissameleveralso locksaugercontrolso you
canturn the chutecontrolwithoutinterruptingthe snow
throwingprocess.
3. Releasethe augercontrol;the interlockmechanism
shouldkeeptheaugercontrolengageduntil the drive
controlis released.

Releasethe drivecontrolto stopboththe augersand
thewheeldrive.Tostoptheauger,bothleversmust
be released.
Auger Control Test
Performthe followingtestbeforeoperatingyour snow
throwerfor the first timeandat the startofeachwinter.
Checkthe adjustmentof the augercontrolasfollows:
1. Whentheaugercontrolis releasedandin the
disengaged"up"position,the cable shouldhavevery
littleslack.It shouldNOTbetight.
2. Ina well-ventilatedarea,startthe snowthrower
engineas instructedonthe previouspage.Makesure
the throttleis setin the FASTposition.
3. Whilestandingin theoperator'sposition(behindthe
snowthrower),engagethe auger.
4. Allowthe augerto remainengagedfor approximately
ten (10)secondsbeforereleasingthe augercontrol.
Repeatthisseveraltimes.
5. Withthe throttlecontrolin the FAST(rabbit)position
andthe augercontrolinthe disengaged"up"position,
walkto the frontof themachine.
6. Confirmthatthe augerhascompletelystopped
rotatingandshowsNOsignsof motion.Ifthe auger
showsANYsignsof rotating,immediatelyreturnto
the operator'spositionandshutoffthe engine.Wait
for ALLmovingpartsto stopbeforere-adjustingthe
augercontrol.
7. To readjustthe controlcable,loosenthe upperhex
nutonthe augercable bracket.
8. Positionthe bracketupwardto providemoreslack(or
downwardto increasecabletension).See Figure12.
9. Retightenthe upperhexnut.
10.RepeatAugerControlTestto verifyproperadjustment
hasbeenachieved.
