Shift Cable
If the full rangeofspeeds(forwardandreverse)cannot
beachieved,referto the figureto theleftandadjustthe
shiftcable as follows:
1, Placethe shiftleverin the fastest forwardspeed
position,
2, Loosenthe hex nuton the shiftcable indexbracket,
SeeFigure13.
3. Pivotthe bracketdownwardto takeupslack inthe
cable,
4, Retightenthe hex nut,
5. Checkforcorrectadjustmentbeforeoperatingthe
snowthrower.
Chute Control
Oncea seasonorevery25hoursof operation,whichever
is earlier,checkwhetherthe four-waychutecontrolTM
cableshaveslackened,Ifthe chutedoesnot rotate
fullyor itspitchcannotbe movedup ordown,the chute
controlcableswill haveto beadjusted,
Toadjustthesecables,proceedas follows:
1. Totightencable,loosenthe top nutand tightenthe
bottomnuton thecable.
2. Adjustequallyon both sidesbyworkingonboth
cables,SeeFigure14,
Drive Control & Shift Lever
Whenthedrivecontrolis releasedandin thedisengaged
"up"position,the cableshouldhaveverylittleslack.It
shouldNOTbetight.
Checktheadjustmentof the drivecontrolas follows:
1, Withthe drivecontrolreleased,pushthe snowthrower
gentlyforward,The unitshouldrollfreely.
2, Engagethe drivecontrolandgentlyattemptto push
the snowthrowerforward.Thewheelsshouldnot turn.
Theunit shouldnot rollfreely.
3, Withthe drivecontrolreleased,movethe shiftlever
backandforthbetweenthe R2 positionandthe F6
positionseveraltimes,Thereshouldbeno resistance
in theshift lever,
4, If anyof the abovetestsfailed,thedrivecable isin
needof adjustment,Proceedas follows:
5, Loosenthe lowerhex nutonthe drivecable bracket,
SeeFigure15,
6, Positionthe bracketupwardto providemoreslack(or
downwardto increasecabletension),
7. Retightenthe lowerhex nut,
Youcan alsocheckthe adjustmentas follows:
1, Withthe snowthrowertipped forward(becertainto
draingasolineorplace plasticfilm underthegascap if
the snowthrowerhasalreadybeenoperated),remove
the framecoverunderneaththe snowthrowerby
removingthe self-tappingscrews,Referto Figure20
onpage 17.
