Troubleshooting Guide for Gas Engines
Generally speaking, there are very few things that will keep today’s modern engines from starting. Use good quality “fresh” fuel and make sure good plugs are
installed. Should the engine fail to start after these items are verified, refer to the charts on the following page.
A) The engine does not start
B) The engine stops by itself
C) Lower power output
Seizure, intrusion of a foreign substance
The crankshaft does not rotate or is abnormally heavy
The carburetor has not been properly adjusted
The fuel is not suitable
Out of fuel
The crankshaft rotates
Air suction from a carburetor joint or oil seal
Clogging of the muffler or exhaust port due to carbon
Abrasion of the piston ring
The spark plug heat range is not proper
Not out of fuel
The plug cap has come off
The fuel is not fed to the carburetor
Put back
