Description

Big Blue liriope is an ornamental grass native to Asia that grows on average one foot tall and produces lavender flowers in the summer, which then turn into black berries in fall. It is considered evergreen in warmer climates, but will turn brown in cooler areas in the late fall then come back out in spring. In both warm and cooler climates it is recommended to mow this grass down in early spring to clear out any dead foliage before new leaves begin to develop. Plant at the base of a tree, or in a mass planting to create deer-resistant display with heat, drought and humidity resistance. It requires almost no maintenance and is easy to establish in well-drained soil. During the first season for establishing roots, water regularly to encourage deep growth.
