The exterior is coated with special UV-resistant paint that stands up to broiling sunlight, and the internals are conformal-coated to protect against fresh and salt-water spray, not to mention dust and sand. The UV-resistant polypropylene cone is attached to the frame with a durable butyl rubber surround and stabilized with a woven aramid fiber spider that resists weather-and temperature related degradation.
