Carbon Monoxide Gas and its Detection
Thiscarbonmonoxidedetectorisdesignedforindooruseonly.Donotexposeto
rainormoisture.Donotknockordropthedetector.Donotopenortamperwith
thedetectorasthiscouldcausemalfunction.Thedetectorwillnotprotectagainst
theriskofcarbonmonoxidepoisoningifnot
properlyinstalled.
WARNING: Thisdevicewill onlyindicatethepresenceofcarbonmonoxide
gasatthesensor.Carbonmonoxidegasmaybepresentinotherareas.
Thiscarbonmonoxidealarmingdeviceisdesignedtodetectcarbonmonoxidegas
fromANYsourceofcombustion.ItisNOTdesignedtodetectsmoke,orothergases
unless
theproducthasbeeninvestigatedanddeterminedtocomplywithapplicable
requirements.
Thisdeviceshouldnotbeinstalledasasubstituteforproperinstallation,use,and
maintenanceoffuelburningappliances,includingappropriateventilationand
exhaustsystems.
Carbonmonoxidegasisahighlypoisonousgaswhichisreleasedwhenfuelsare
burned.
Itisinvisible,hasnosmellandisthereforeimpossibletodetectwiththe
humansenses.Undernormalconditionsinaroomwherefuelburningappliances
arewellmaintainedandcorrectlyventilated,theamountofcarbonmonoxide
releasedintotheroombyappliancesshouldnotbedangerous.
Conditions Resulting in Dangerous CO
Situations
1 Excessivespillageorreverseventingoffuelburningappliancescausedby:
outdoorambientconditions,suchaswinddirectionand/orvelocity,
includinghighgustsofwind,andinsufficientdraftintheventpipes
•negativepressuredifferentialresultingfromtheuseofexhaustfans
simultaneousoperationofseveralfuelburningappliancescompetingfor
limited
internalair
•looseventpipeconnectionsfromfuelfedappliances,
obstructions,orunconventionalventpipedesignsthatcanamplifythe
abovesituations
poorlydesignedormaintainedchimneysand/orvents
2 Extendedoperationofunventedfuelburningdevices(range,oven,replace,
etc.)
3 Temperatureinversionsthattrapexhaustgasesneartheground
4 Caridlinginanopenorclosedattachedgarage,ornearahome
IfyouhavebeenexposedtoCarbonMonoxidePoisoning,youmaybesuffering
fromvarioussymptoms(discussthesesymptomswithallofthemembersofyour
household):
Mild Exposure
•Headache,runningnose,soreeyes(oftendescribedas‘flulike’symptoms)
Medium Exposure
Dizziness,drowsiness,vomiting
Extreme Exposure
Unconsciousness,braindamage,death
ManyreportedcasesofreportedCarbonMonoxidePoisoningindicatethatwhile
victimsareawaretheyarenotwell,theybecomesodisorientedthattheyare
unabletosavethemselvesbyeitherexitingthebuildingorcallingforassistance.
Youngchildrenandpetsmaybethefirsttobe
affected.
WARNING: Individualswithmedicalproblemsshouldconsiderusing
warningdeviceswhichprovideaudibleandvisualsignalsforcarbon
monoxideconcentrationsunder30ppm.
Actuation of this device indicates the presence of Carbon
Monoxide (CO) which can KILL YOU
Ifthealarmsignalsounds,fourbeeps:
1 Pushthehush/testbutton.
2 Immediatelymovetofreshair(outdoorsornexttoanopenwindow).
3 Checkthatallpersonswithintheareaareaccountedfor.
4 Donotreenterthepremises(ormoveawayfromtheopenwindowuntilthe
emergencyservicerespondershavearrived,thepremiseshavebeenairedout,
andyouralarmremainsinnormalcondition.
5 Callemergencyservices,thefiredepartment,or911.
6 Iftheservicesignalsounds,onechirp,thenchecktheservicesectiontotryand
correct.
7 Afterfollowingsteps16,ifyouralarmreactivateswithina24hourperiod,
repeatsteps16andcallyourlocalqualifiedtechniciantoinvestigatefor
sourcesofCOfromfuelburningequipmentandappliancesandinspectfor
properoperationofthisCOdetector.Ifproblemsareidentifiedduringthis
inspection,havetheequipmentservicedorreplacedimmediately.Noteany
combustionequipmentnotinspectedbythetechnicianandconsultthe
manufacturersinstructions,orcontactthemanufacturersdirectlyformore
informationaboutCOsafetyandthisequipment.Makesurethatmotor
vehiclesarenot,andhavenotbeen,operatinginan
attachedgarageor
adjacenttotheresidence.
Replacing the Detector
Thisdetectorismanufacturedwithalonglifecarbonmonoxidesensor.Overtime
thesensorwilllosesensitivity,andwillneedtobereplacedwithanewcarbon
monoxidedetector.Thedetectorslifespanis5yearsfromthedateofmanufacture.
NOTE: Whenthedetectorisremovedfromitsbase,aTampermessageis
senttothecentralmonitoringstation.Thedetectoralsocausesatrouble
conditionwhenithasreachedtheendofitslife. Ifthisoccurs,itistimeto
replacethedetector.
Befor ereplacingthedetector,notifythecentral
monitoringstationthat
maintenanceisbeingperformedandthatthesystemwillbetemporarilyoutof
service.FromtheControlPanel,disablethezoneorsystemundergoing
maintenancetopreventanyunwantedalarms.Disposeofthedetectorin
accordancewithanylocalregulations.
IMPORTANT: TheReplacementDatethatappearsonthedeviceisthedate
beyondwhichthedevicemaynolongerdetectcarbonmonoxide
accuratelyandshouldbeimmediatelyreplaced.
Theinstallation,operationtestingandmaintenanceoftheWirelessCarbon
MonoxideAlarmisdifferentthansmokedetectors.PerNFPA720section5.3.7.2the
detector
shallnotbeconnectedtoazonethatsignalsafirecondition(i.e.smoke
detector/alarmzones).Therefore,theWirelessCarbonMonoxideAlarmmustbe
programmedasanonfirezone.Seestep2underProgrammingforthecorrect
CarbonMonoxidezonetypetoprogram.

Regulatory Compliance
ThisdevicecomplieswithPart15oftheFCC'sRules.Operationissubjecttothe
followingtwoconditions:
1.Thisdevicemaynotcauseharmfulinterference,and
2.Thisdevicemustacceptanyinterferencereceived,includinginterferencethatmay
causeundesiredoperation.
ThisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforaClassB
digitaldevice,pursuanttoPart15oftheFCCRules.Theselimitsaredesignedto
providereasonableprotectionagainstharmfulinterferenceinaresidential
installation.
Thisequipmentgenerates,usesandcanradiateradiofrequencyenergy
and,ifnot
installedandusedinaccordancewiththeinstructions,maycauseharmful
interferencetoradiocommunications.However,thereisnoguaranteethat
interferencewillnotoccurinaparticularinstallation.Ifthisequipmentdoescause
harmfulinterferencetoradioortelevisionreception,whichcanbedeterminedby
turningthe
equipmentoffandon,theuserisencouragedtotrytocorrectthe
interferencebyoneormoreofthefollowingmeasures:
Reorientorrelocatethereceivingantenna.
•Increasetheseparationbetweentheequipmentandreceiver.
Connecttheequipmentintoanoutletonacircuitdifferentfromthattowhich
thereceiver
isconnected.
•Consultthedealeroranexperiencedradio/TVtechnicianforhelp.
ThisproductcomplieswithFCCradiationexposurelimitsforanuncontrolled
environment.Avoidoperatingthisproductatadistancelessthan20cmfromuser.
Caution:Anychangedormodificationsnotexpresslyapprovedbytheparty
responsibleforcompliancecould
voidtheuser'sauthoritytooperatethis
equipment.
Limited Warranty
This2GIGTechnologiesproductiswarrantedagainstdefectsinmaterialand
workmanshipfor2years.Thiswarrantyextendsonlytowholesalecustomerswho
buydirectfrom2GIGTechnologiesorthrough2GIGTechnologies’normal
distributionchannels.2GIGTechnologiesdoesnotwarrantthisproductto
consumers.Consumersshouldinquirefromtheirsellingdealer
astothenatureof
thedealer’swarranty,ifany.
Therearenoobligationsorliabilitiesonthepartof2GIGTechnologiesfor
consequentialdamagesarisingoutoforinconnectionwithuseorperformanceof
thisproductorotherindirectdamageswithrespecttolossofproperty,revenue,or
profit,
orcostofremoval,installation,orreinstallation.Allimpliedwarrantiesfor
