INSTANCE: Begin an instance definition.
This option is used to instance a part within an assembly. It must be used in conjunction with the
*
ASSEMBLY
and
*
END INSTANCE options. If the instance is not im ported from a previous analysis, the
*
INSTANCE
option must be used in conjunction with the
*
PART option. When importing a part instance from a previous
analysis, the
*
INSTANCE option must be used in conjunction with the
*
IMPORT option.

END INSTANCE

IMPORT
Required parameters if the instance is not imported from a previous analysis:
NAME
Set this parameter equal to a label that will be used to refer to the instance.
PART
Set this parameter equal to the name of the part being instanced.
Required parameter if the instance is to be imported from a previous analysis:
INSTANCE
Set this parameter equal to the name of the instance to be imported from the previous analysis.
Optional impor t parameter:
LIBRARY
Set this parameter equal to the na me of the previous ana lysis from which the instance should
be im ported. The previous analysis output database (.odb) file should reside in the current
(working) directory. If the LIBRA RY parameter is omitted, the job na me of the previous analysis
must be specified on the command line using the oldjob paramete r (see Execution procedure
for ABAQUS/Standard and ABAQ US/Explicit,” Section 3.2.2 of the ABAQU S Analysis User’s
Manual). If both methods are used, the command line specification will take precedence over the
LIBRARY parameter.
