Fire Barrier
Self-Locking Pillows are one of the quickest and most
cost effective methods for fire stopping a through-
penetration. Typical applications include cable trays,
conduit and blank openings, which penetrate fire-rated
construction. Self-Locking Pillows are easy to install –
minimal training required.
During a fire, 3M Fire Barrier Self-Locking Pillows
intumesce (expand with heat), locking tightly into place.
The resulting barrier retards the transmission of smoke,
fire, and toxic gases from spreading between adjacent
rooms and floors for the rated time period.
3M Fire Barrier Self-Locking Pillows’ unique
interlocking strips are available in three different sizes
(small, medium, large). The increased versatility allows
the proper combination to fit securely and conform to
most openings – great for
new or retrofit projects.
The lack of wire mesh

Beginning with 3M Moldable Putty in the corners,
simply lock and compress 3M Fire Barrier Self-Locking
Pillows and insert into opening, one or more at a time
until opening is completely closed.
3M Fire Barrier Self-Locking Pillows have been
tested to the ASTM E 814 test criteria and have
been designed to meet the intent of NEC, NFPA,
SBCCI, BOCA, ICBO and ICC building codes.

fully reusable,
with no blocking
or fusing of
materials.
Warranty and Limited Remedy. This product will be free from defects in material and manufacture
for a period of ninety (90) days from date of purchase. 3M MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES
INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. User is responsible for determining whether the 3M
product is fit for a particular purpose and suitable for user’s application. If the 3M product is proved
to be defective within the warranty period stated above, your exclusive remedy and 3M’s sole
obligation shall be, at 3M’s option, to replace or repair the 3M product or refund the purchase price
of the 3M product.
Limitation of Liability. Except where prohibited by law, 3M will not be liable for any loss or
damage from a 3M product, whether direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential,
regardless of the legal theory asserted, including warranty, contract, negligence
or strict liability.
