Safety Message Format
Safety messages are designed to alert you to potential hazards that can
cause personal injury to you or others
Each safety message box contains:
a safety alert symbol ( );
§ one of two signal words: WARNING or CAUTION;
a safety label symbol ( );
§ and a safety message.
In addition to the symbols and words, each safety message:
§ Identifies the hazard.
§ Describes what you can and should do to avoid the risk of exposure to
the hazard.
§ Conveys the probable consequences of not avoiding the hazard.
The signal words, safety label symbols, and their meanings are shown below:
DANGER Indicates a potentially
hazardous situation, which, if not
avoided, will result in death or
serious injury.
WARNING Indicates a potentially
hazardous situation, which, if not
avoided, could result in death or
serious injury.
CAUTION Indicates a potentially
hazardous situation, which, if not
avoided, may result in minor or
moderate injury or property
damage.
The (Information) icon is used in this manual to draw your attention to other
important information
