There are a series of sensors located within the doors of the elevator that send signals between the two doors when they are
open; if the signal is interrupted by a person or object, the doors will reopen so that someone is not trapped between the
doors as they close. The electronics that control this operation are mounted on a ½ in. wide by 7 ft. long circuit board that
spans the length of the door opening, with sensors mounted on both sides—one side sending a signal, the other side
receiving the signal. A protective cover fits over this thin circuit board (which allows the signal to transmit through it),
though it could flex and come in contact with the components mounted on the circuit board and possibly damage them. To
help avoid this problem, 3M

Protective Products are attached directly onto the circuit board. Since they have a
higher profile than the components, only the Bumpon protector will be contacted if the cover is flexed. These circuit boards
are also mounted in a position set back from the actual opening so they cannot be tampered with.
