Operating Parameters
1. Always use protective glasses as recommended
in ANSI Standard Z87.1.
2. Use appropriate body protection such as
gloves, safety shoes, and aprons where
appropriate.
3. Do not exceed the maximum operating speeds
stated on the product labels.
4. Use guards and dust collection system, if
provided, with equipment.
5. Periodically check machinery and mountings
hardware to make sure they are in good
operating condition. Repair or replace
damaged machinery and mounting hardware.
6. Inspect product prior to installation on
equipment for defects or damage.
7. During use, if unusual vibrations or changes
occur, immediately stop the equipment.
Determine the cause and correct.
Tech Tips
1. Sand the entire work piece to give a consistent
finish.
2. Have the work area well lit.
3. Check that the random orbital sander backup
pad has a clean, even surface to reduce any
chances of wild defects.
4. Clean all work surfaces prior to sanding.
5. To avoid “swirls” or “hook” marks when
using a pneumatic (air) sander, ensure that the
sander has the proper air pressure. When the
tool is running, it should have a minimum of
90 PSI (pounds per square inch).
6. Whether using an electric or air sander, start
the sander flat on the work piece and keep the
backup pad as flat as possible to prevent
gouging.
7. NEVER stop the sander while the tool is in
contact with the work piece. Stopping the
sander on the work piece may create wild
scratches. Stop the tool as it is removed from
the work piece.
8. Sand in a smooth, back and forth, up and down
motion.
9. Clean wood dust from the work piece between
sanding steps. This will assist in reducing
“the re-sanding of dust”.
