Product:
3M™ SR Radial Bristle Discs, 2" and 3" diameter, are plastic particle filled bristle products. The SR
Radial Bristle Disc has a curved radial design for greater conformability.
Applications:
3M SR Radial Bristle Discs are designed to remove thin layers (1/16” or less) of sealants and soft
cross-linked adhesives with minimal or no damage to underlying coatings and surfaces, especially in
aerospace applications. Examples of sealants are polysulfide, polythioether, polyurethane, silicones,
and RTV’s.

vantages:
Increases Productivity
Sealant removal without the need to repaint/reprime damaged coatings
Remove sealants and residues quickly; no waiting for chemicals to act or handling of liquid
hazardous waste
No resharpening of blunted plastic scrapers
Protects sensitive metal surfaces; no more gouging or scratching with metal scrapers.
Unique bristle pattern provides conformability and accesses hard-to-reach areas that are difficult
to scrape
Non-loading
Cool running
Easy To Use
Mount a 3M™ 990 or 991 Mandrel in a straight shaft or right angle pneumatic tool, preferably
rated at 12,000 RPM or less.
Use plastic 1" 3M™ Roloc™+ Mandrels and No. 7 buttons where metal mandrel and work
surface contact is unavoidable and unacceptable.
Install multiple discs with hubs interlocking and embossed arrows in direction of tool rotation
onto mandrel.
Apply light pressure to discs while operating tool. Start at one end of sealant and work to the
end.
Use a light brush and vacuum to remove debris. Any visible residues may be removed with a
solvent, such as isopropyl alcohol, and wipe.
