Introduction
About the 3M™ Book Check Model 940 Series
The 3M™ Book Check Model 940 Series are customer-installable
units that sensitize and desensitize the 3M™ Tattle-Tape™
Security Strips and RFID tags that secure a library’s materials.
These units can be placed on a countertop or embedded in a
desktop, enabling efficient processing of library materials.
Models
The sleek, durable Model 942 is a standalone book check unit that
safely desensitizes and resensitizes security strips on print
materials, CDs and DVDs. The Model 943 consists of this same
book check unit but adds a state-of-the-art barcode scanner that
communicates with 3M Staff Workstation software and the
integrated library system (ILS). The Model 946 adds RFID
capabilities.

About Staff Workstation software
For Model 943 and 946 users, the Staff Workstation software
integrates and streamlines the various tasks required to check
library materials in and out while increasing the reliablity of this
process.
The software provides an interface between the scanner and the
integrated library system (ILS), automates the identification of
missing and out-of-circulation items, and provides error checking
mechanisims that reduce barcode reading errors.

Book Check Features
Key features include the following:
Efficient check-in and checkout of materials by library staff
Selectable processing flow, from right-to-left or left-to-right
Audible feedback, a “thump” that informs the staff that a check-in or checkout operation is complete
Security status verification, a light that tells the staff when the unit detects a sensitized strip
Easy to use indicators and buttons
