termination next to a dryer or dryer vent. The
water heater environment must be free from
any source of airborne debris that can be
trapped inside the water heater.

Ensure that you meet the minimum clearances shown below for a direct vent termination:

Improper installation will void the warranty and may cause damage to the water heater.
NOTICE
WARNING
Do not install the water heater and its termination where water, debris or
flammable vapors may get into the water heater and flue terminal.
Do not have the vent terminal pointing toward any opening into a building.
Do not locate your heater in a pit or location where gas and water can
accumulate.
Failure to observe these warnings could result in carbon monoxide poisoning
or death.
