System Monitor Settings
41-001391-00 Rev 03 – 04.2012 8-8
The System Monitor service itself is listed on the Platform :: System Status page, and can be Start(ed) / Stop(ped)/
Restart(ed) if desired.
Notifications
The System Monitor can notify the administrator if it detects anomalies. Notifications can be sent via e-mail, SNMP trap, or
log messages. You can configure each type of notification (e.g., disk space, load average, CPU temperature) individually.
Click the buttons in the Notification Settings area to display the configuration parameters for each type of notification.
Press Edit to modify the parameters.
In each set of parameters you can select the Notification Channel for that type of notification by checking one or more
options:
E-mail
An e-mail with the notification will be sent to the e-mail notification list specified in the Notifications area of the Sys-
tem Monitor Settings.
SNMP Trap
A trap with the notification will be sent to the SNMP managers specified in the Notifications area of the System Mon-
itor Settings.
Log to Log File
The notification will be logged to the log file. The log files can be viewed under Platform :: System Logs :: System
Monitor and High Availability Log.
Number of Processes
These parameters set a notification based on whether the number of BAS processes exceeds a maximum or falls below a
minimum.
Note:
In normal operational circumstances, all services should be monitored. Enable monitoring services whenever server
software has been installed or reinstalled. Only disable service monitoring when services need to be manually
started/stopped or upgraded. By default, all services but the Location Request Client are monitored.
