ABBYY® FineReader 15 User’s Guide
3. Reserve pools and licenses for the appropriate workstations and users.
Prior to installing ABBYY FineReader 15 on the workstations, you must distribute the licenses among
the workstations/users in ABBYY FineReader 15 License Manager. The distribution process is carried
out by means of reserving a license for a specific workstation/user. Once a license is reserved, only
the specified workstation/user will be able to use it.
Important! Reserve the Per Seat licences and pools before you start installing ABBYY FineReader 15 on
the workstations. To bind a workstation to a server or unbind it from a server after ABBYY FineReader
has been installed on it, you will need to remove the program from the workstation. To move a Per-Seat
license from one workstation to another after ABBYY FineReader has been installed, you will need to
deactivate the license. The number of allowed deactivations is limited.
For more information about license types and about working with ABBYY FineReader 15 License
Manager, see the ABBYY FineReader 15 License Manager help file.
Deploying a multi-user distribution package with
per-seat licenses and automatic activation
Deploying a multi-user distribution package with automatic activation does not require installing the
License server and the License Manager.
Deploying a multi-user distribution package on a local area network comprises the following steps:
1. Creating a multi-user administrative installation point
At this step, a multi-user activation key is added to the distribution package, which allows installing
ABBYY FineReader on workstations without the need to enter a serial number.
For detailed instructions, see Creating a multi-user administrative installation point with Per-Seat
licenses .
2. Installing ABBYY FineReader on workstations using one of the following methods:
·
manually in interactive mode
·
via the command line
·
Using Active Directory
·
Using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
For detailed instructions, see Installing ABBYY FineReader 15 on Workstations .
Note. The 32-bit version of ABBYY FineReader 15 cannot be installed on a 64-bit system. The same is
true for the 64-bit version on a 32-bit system.
