Operation Manual

Preface
Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing this photo-electric radio
smoke detector. You made the right decision in choo-
sing this state-of-the-art technology, which complies
with the current standards of domestic and European
regulations. The CE has been proven and all related
certicationsareavailablefromthemanufacturer
upon request. To maintain this status and to guaran-
tee safe operation, it is your obligation to observe
these operating instructions! In the event of questions,
please contact your local specialist dealer. The radio
smoke detector reacts to visible smoke particles. If
too much smoke reaches its measuring chamber,
an alarm is triggered (direct on the detector and on
the alarm centre). If integrated into the ABUS radio
alarm system, the radio smoke detector occupies a
zone that is monitored even if the system is inactive.
The radio smoke detector is used in locations with
lowdustpollution(residentialbuildings,ofces)or
where thick smoke can be expected in the event of a
re(suchassmoulderingfurniture).
Read carefully the notes and advice in these opera-
ting instructions! If you do not follow these instruc-
tions, your guarantee claim becomes invalid! We can
accept no liability for the consequences! No part of
theproductmaybechangedormodiedinanyway.

regulations and recommendations. These regulations
can vary from country to country. For more detailed
information,contactyourlocalreauthorities.
Selecting the installation location
Place the smoke detector directly on the ceiling in
the centre of the room. The minimum distance to
each side wall should be 12 cm. We recommend a
separate smoke detector for each entrance area,
staircase, living-room and bedroom. The distance
between two smoke detectors should not exceed 8
metres. Install smoke detectors in a position with the
best available transmission and reception properties.
Usedouble-sidedadhesivetapetoxthedetec

tor temporarily in different locations and test it by
triggering an alarm. If it is not detected by the alarm
centre, move the detector to a new position.
Do NOT install the detector:
– Places with greater temperature variation than the
ambient operating temperature range
– Places where draughts can keep smoke away
from the detector (such as near windows, doors or
ventilation shafts)
– Places with steam, high air humidity or exhaust
gases (kitchen, bathroom, garage, loft)
– Places where thick dust or smoke could impair the
function of the smoke detector.
At the highest point of a gable roof. The distance to
the rooftop should be at least 30cm.
– Near large metal structures
Installation

bracket to the unit.
3. Remove the detector from the detector base. Do
this by turning the base anticlockwise.
4. Install the smoke detector at the selected location.
Screw the detector base to the ceiling.
a. Use the base to mark drill-hole positions. Use
the existing blanks.
