Data Encryption – Enable or disable the access point to use data encryption (WEP,
TKIP, or AES). If this option is selected when using static WEP keys, you must
configure at
least one key on the access point and all clients. (Default: Disabled)
Note: You must enable data encryption through the web or CLI in order to enable all
types of encryption (WEP, TKIP, or AES) in the access point.
CLI Commands for WEP Shared Key Security – For static WEP shared keys, be
sure to first disable 802.1X port authentication using the 802.1X command from the
configuration mode. Then, from the 802.11a or 802.11g interface configuration
mode, use the key command to define up to four WEP keys that can be used for all
VAP interfaces on the radio. Then use the vap command to access each VAP
interface to configure other security settings.
From the VAP interface configuration mode, use the authentication command to
enable WEP shared-key authentication and the encryption command to enable
data encryption. Then set one key as the transmit key for the VAP interface using
the transmit-key command. To view the current security settings, use the show
interface wireless a 0 or show interface wireless g 0 command from the Exec
mode.
