- 3 Setting up your computer Positioning your keyboard The location of the keyboard is a very important factor for your posture. Placing it too far away will make your body lean forward, forcing you to sit in an unnatural position. Placing it too high will add tension to your shoulder muscles. • The keyboard should be placed just above your lap. Adjust the keyboard height by flipping the folding strands located under the keyboard. • Keep your lower arms parallel to the floor as you type.

3 Setting up your computer - 31 Connecting an external monitor You can connect an external monitor using the HDMI connector or DVI-D connector. HDMI output 1. Connect the video cable from the monitor to the HDMI connector on your computer.

3 Setting up your computer - 33 Connecting audio devices The computer’s audio jacks (headphone/speakers, microphone, linein, or line-out jack) allows you to connect audio devices such as a headphone, headset, microphone, or speakers. Connect the audio device’s cable to any of the audio I/O ports located on the front or rear panel of the computer. - 3 Setting up your computer Connecting to power 1. Insert the adapter cables (1) and place the power adapters into the power adapter holder (2). 2. Plug the power cords into the DC-in jack 1 and 2 power connectors, then into an electrical outlet. Note The system will not turn on unless both power adapters are plugged-in.
3 Setting up your computer - 35 Connecting to a network Your computer’s built-in network features make it easy for you to connect your computer to the internet using a cable or a wireless connection. First though, in order to connect to the internet, you’ll need to sign up for internet services from an Internet Service Provider (ISP) — usually a phone or cable company — that will have to go to your home or office to set up internet service.
- 3 Setting up your computer Connecting to a wireless network This computer is equipped with a wireless communication feature. This feature allows you to connect to a wireless Ethernet-based network and communicate with other wireless communication devices. Your computer's wireless connection is turned on by default and Windows will detect and display a list of available networks during setup. Select your network and enter the password if required.
3 Setting up your computer - 37 Connecting to a wireless network Note Ensure you have a wireless router or access point and current internet connection through the ISP of your choice. Make a note of the wireless network’s name and password (if necessary). If you are trying to connect to a public network (such as at a coffee shop), make sure you have the wireless network’s name. Please refer to your ISP or router documentation for details on connecting to the internet.
- 3 Setting up your computer Turning on your computer After making sure you have properly set up your computer, applied power and connected all necessary peripherals, you can now power on the system. 1. Turn your monitor on. 2. Press the power button on your computer. The LED on the power button will turn to solid red to indicate that power is on. Turning off your computer To turn off your computer (Windows 10): 1. From the Start menu, select Power. 2. Select Shut down.
3 Setting up your computer - 39 Using a USB device Your computer has six USB 3.0 ports located on the front and rear panels. You can connect USB devices such as keyboards, mouse, storage devices, power banks, smartphones, or digital cameras to these ports. Connecting a USB storage device To connect a USB device, simply plug the device cable into any of the USB port located on the front and rear panels of your computer.
- 3 Setting up your computer Disconnecting a USB device To disconnect a USB device from your computer, click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the taskbar and click on the device. When the device can be safely removed, disconnect the device from the computer. See your peripheral’s documentation for details.
3 Setting up your computer - 41 Using the optical disc drive To insert an optical disc: 1. While the computer is on, press the ODD eject button. 2. When the disk tray slides open, place the disc gently on the tray. Make sure that the label or title side of the disk is facing outward. 3. Push the tray and it will close automatically. Playing DVD movies If your computer is equipped with a DVD drive, you can play movies on your computer or on a high-definition TV via the DVI-D or HDMI connector. 1.

6 Upgrading your computer - 73 Memory The computer has four DDR4 U-DIMM slots that support up to 64 GB maximum system memory. Memory configuration guidelines • To ensure data integrity, use only Acer-approved DDR4 2133 MHz type memory modules. • Memory modules must be installed starting with DIMM1 slot. • Always handle memory modules by its edges. • When installing memory modules, populate the DIMM slots according to the table below.

Press outward the holding clips on both sides of the DIMM slot outward to release the memory module (1). 3. Gently pull the memory module upward to remove it from the DIMM slot (2). 4. If you intend to install a new memory module, proceed to the next section for related procedure, then observe the Post-installation instructions on page 58.
6 Upgrading your computer - 75 Installing a memory Note DIMM slots on the mainboard must be installed only in certain configurations. Numbers next to DIMM slots correspond to installation sequence. Be sure to install the memory module in DIMM1 slot followed by DIMM2 slot. 1. Perform Pre-installation instructions on page 58. 2. Select an empty DIMM slot. 3. Remove the new memory module from its packaging, handling it by the edges. 4. Align then insert the memory module into the DIMM slot (1). 5.

Remove the three screws that secure the graphics board to the chassis.
