Warning! Successful backup and recovery are not guaranteed for the installations on virtual machines.
Other requirements
An internet connection is required for the product activation, for downloading protection
updates, and for all features that use Acronis Cloud, including online backup, cloud archiving, and
data synchronization. If your computer is not connected to the internet, you can activate the
product by using another computer that has an internet connection. Refer to Activating Acronis
True Image 2021 (p. 13) for details.
You need to have administrator privileges to run Acronis True Image 2021.
1.4.2 Supported operating systems
Acronis True Image 2021 has been tested on the following operating systems.
Windows 10 (all editions, including the October 2020 Update)
Windows 8.1
Windows 8
Windows 7 SP1 (all editions)
Windows Home Server 2011

• Beta builds are not supported. See https://kb.acronis.com/content/60589
• Windows Embedded, IoT editions, Windows 10 LTSB, and Windows 10 LTSC are not supported
Acronis True Image 2021 also lets you create a bootable CD-R/DVD-R or USB drive that can back up
and recover a disk/partition on a computer running any Intel- or AMD- based PC operating system,
including Linux®. Note that the Intel-based Apple Macintosh is not supported.
It is possible for the software to work on other Windows operating systems, but it is not guaranteed.
Warning Successful recovery is guaranteed only for the supported operating systems. Other operating systems
can be backed up using a sector-by-sector approach, but they may become unbootable after recovery.
1.4.3 Supported file systems

* File systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery operations.
** Disk recovery, partition recovery, and cloning operations are supported without resizing.
If a file system is not supported or is corrupted, Acronis True Image 2021 can copy data using a
sector-by-sector approach.
